Queues in many countries around the world as iPhone16 hits stores

Apple's new AI-centric era officially began on Friday with the launch of the iPhone 16, which is now available in the company's stores in nearly 60 countries. Although the iPhone 16 does not initially include the Apple Intelligence platform, it is one of only two generations of iPhones to be compatible with the software. The first AI features are said to be coming through iOS 18 in October.

In fact, queues were seen at Apple stores in countries such as Britain, South Korea, Singapore and Dubai. In Singapore, at the flagship store, queues started as early as 4am, with customers waiting to either collect their orders in advance or buy directly from the store.

By 9 a.m., about 300 people had lined up to buy the device, according to company sources. Many had traveled from countries like Vietnam and Sri Lanka, where Apple has no official stores, or from India, where the company has only two stores.

Similar images were recorded in London, where queues formed outside Apple's two flagship stores.

However, pre-orders over the past weekend are estimated to have been around 13% lower than for the iPhone 15.
